Tour of Huaraz
Tour of 4 days and 2 nights
Day 01: Lima - Huaraz
Leave by bus Lima– Huaraz 10:00 P.M. (08 hrs. journey approx.).
Day 02: Huaraz: Huaylas Valley / Llanganuco Lake
Welcome and transfer to your chosen hotel.
Breakfast in the hotel.
Full day excursion through the magnificent Huaylas Valley, visiting the towns of Marcará, Carhuaz, Mancos, Ranrahirca and Yungay. The sad tale of Yangay is that the town was completely destroyed by an earthquake, and its accompanying landslide on the 31st May 1970, killing virtually everyone in the town ( about 25000 people lost their lives ) From Yangay you can really appreciate the magnitude of the beautiful Huascaran mountain, the highest peak in the Peruvian Andes, at 6768m (22,204 feet) nearly six times the height of Ben Nevis and 2,000 ft above Mt. McKinley.
You will see the picturesque Lake Llanganuco and the variety of flora and fauna in the Huascarán national park. To finish this beautiful excursion you visit the town of Caraz, where they manufacture manjares ( cakes ) and ceramics.
Lunch in Caraz. Return to the town. Overnight
Day 03 Chavin de Huantar
Continental breakfast.
Visit to the ancient temple of Chavin developed around 900BC. This is an important archeological site and one of the earliest ceremonial centers of the Central Andes. Tour of the site.
Day 04: Pastoruri Glacier. Lima
Breakfast in the hotel.

Full day excursion to the Pastoruri glacier ...onto tropical ice! Tobogganing is an option here. It's about 80km south of Huaraz. On route you will see the famous " puyas de Raimondi " plant with their giant flower stalks. The glacier base is at 5000m and you need to walk a way to get to it. Horses are usually available for rent.
Lunch included. Return to Huaraz for the 2200 hrs departure back to Lima.

This includes the executive bus to/from Lima. Based on Double occupancy.
